Manchester United have confirmed that Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba will be leaving the club as free agents. The two players will not be renewing their deals with the club, and will be moving on to other clubs this summer.
In the case of Pogba, it is the second time that he is walking out of Old Trafford for free. He remains Manchester United’s most expensive signing of all-time, at €100 million. But, failed to make himself a consistent member of the starting line-up due to his disciplinary issues and hit and miss performances.
Lingard and Pogba leave Manchester United
Jesse Lingard had chances of leaving the club during the January transfer window, with Newcastle United interested in signing him. But, Ralf Rangnick blocked the transfer since he wanted to keep him until the end of the season.
Despite staying on for the next six months, Lingard remained on the bench for almost the entire campaign. And now, he has a chance to restart his career after leaving Manchester United.
Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani and Nemanja Matic are also on their way out of the club this summer. Manchester United are heading towards a huge squad rebuild in the coming months, with the likes of Frenkie De Jong, Jurrien Timber and Darwin Nunez rumoured as potential targets for them. However, no deals have been confirmed just yet.
