Manchester United have resumed negotiations with Jadon Sancho, identifying the English winger as their top target for the second summer running. The Borussia Dortmund star was one step away from making the move to Old Trafford last summer, but the deal ultimately fell through.
Dortmund officials have a gentleman’s agreement in place with Sancho that they will let him leave if a suitable bid arrives for him. While they had a mammoth price tag worth €120 million for him last year, that rate has dropped to €90-95 million this year.
And while Manchester United haven’t agreed anything for sure just yet, they have initiated contact with Sancho’s representatives. The player is still positive about a return to Manchester, and after coming through the City academy, he could be playing for the other side next term.
Liverpool are not pursuing the player since they haven’t sold, and are not planning on selling any of their star players this summer. Hence, a move to Merseyside is not feasible.
The Red Devils have offered Sancho a contract until 2026, and are yet to reach a final agreement with Borussia Dortmund about the fees.
Sancho endured a drop in form after the failed transfer last summer, but got his act together a few months after it. His season ended by lifting the DFB Pokal trophy with the club, and also achieving Champions League football with the club next season by achieving a third place finish in the Bundesliga.
