Erling Haaland is one of Europe’s most sought-after transfer targets, having scored 76 goals in 75 games for Borussia Dortmund since joining in January 2020. His contract continues through 2024, but he has a release clause that allows him to leave for a cost of 75 million euros in the summer of 2022.

About the Clause

Given Haaland’s apparent skill and the current transfer market inflation, the 21-year-old is a modern-day bargain. This clause has been the subject of conjecture for some time, and according to insiders, it also makes the player very appealing to the continent’s best teams. Bild, a German tabloid, has now revealed the existence of the 75 million euro provision.

A line from Bild explained: “His contract in Dortmund runs until 2024, but he can leave Borussia in summer for a fixed price of 75m euros.”

His remarks were made during an interview with Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Khan, who stated that the Bavarian club will be able to make a huge deal soon. They’ve been associated with Haaland, as have the rest of Europe’s elite teams, and Mino Raiola recently listed Bayern as one of the four clubs Haaland may join, however, the agent later stated the striker could join any of 15 great clubs.

Clubs Interested in Haaland

Manchester City, Barcelona, and Real Madrid were the other three clubs mentioned by Raiola. In recent weeks, the two Spanish teams have been heavily associated with the youngster. The CEO of Borussia Dortmund, Hans-Joachim Watzke, even mentioned Real Madrid as a potential suitor.

In an interview with Bild, Watzke also mentioned: “No matter where you go, everybody talks to you about Haaland.”
