David Silva has arguably been the best player of Manchester City in their golden era. He joined the Premier League side in 2010 from LaLiga side Valencia.

During his 10 years at the Etihad Stadium, he has won 4 Premier League titles along with 2 FA Cups, 5 League Cups and 3 Community Shields. He has scored 77 goals and provided 121 assists for City.

Silva will now return to his homeland Spain. He has signed a two-year deal with LaLiga side Real Sociedad. The club has given him his favourite No 21 shirt, left vacant by Odegard who has returned to his parent club Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola confirmed that David Silva will return to Etihad Stadium for a farewell match once fans are allowed back into the stadium. It will be unfair not to give one of their greatest club legends a befitting farewell.

Silva will also go down as one of the greatest passers in England’s top-flight history. The Spanish midfielder has provided at least 10 assists in all of his 10 seasons with Manchester City.

To commemorate the achievements of Silva at Manchester City, club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has announced their plan to build a statue for the City legend.

Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: “David is a transformational player, a quiet leader who has inspired everyone around him.”

“David’s statue will act as a lasting reminder of the wonderful moments that he gave us, not only as an incredible footballer but as an inspiring ambassador who represented this football club with great dignity at all times.”

The statue will be unveiled in 2021 along with another tribute dedicated to former City captain Vincent Kompany, who has announced his retirement from football on Monday.

David Silva will always be remembered for his time in the Premier League with Manchester City. He is one of the most decorated midfielders having won the 2010 World Cup along with the Euro in 2008 and 2012 with Spain.

He will now return to his country and probably play the last few years of his career in Spain.
