Manchester City are pushing to sign Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes, and are in direct talks over the transfer. They have submitted a €55 million bid for the Portuguese midfielder, which has been rejected by Wolves.
As of now, the plan is for them to submit another final bid to sign the player. If that offer is rejected, they will end their pursuit of Nunes. City have been keen on signing a new midfielder this summer and have already missed out on Lucas Paqueta of West Ham United.
Manchester City to submit new bid for Matheus Nunes
As the player is keen on the move, personal terms should not be an issue. But, an agreement with Wolves is necessary for the transfer to go through. And so far, they have proven to be rigid in their demands to offload their player.
The 24-year-old signed for Wolves last summer from Sporting CP for €45 million and had an impressive debut season. As a result, Wolves are under no compulsion to sell and are pushing the limits City will go to so that they can get the highest fee possible.
A higher offer for Matheus Nunes would break the record for the most expensive sale in the club’s history, which is currently the €45 million they received for Ruben Neves from Al Hilal this summer.
The Midlands club parted ways with Julen Lopetegui ahead of the new season over differences in terms of the squad. They are expected to be relegated by the end of the season considering how many players have left, and are in serious trouble right from the beginning of the season.
