Manchester City and Liverpool take on each other in the most awaited clash of the 2021-22 season on Sunday. The two have been caught in yet another intense title battle, which the Sky Blues lead by one point only.
They previously held an 11-point lead over Jurgen Klopp’s men, but it was reduced to one after they dropped points against Southampton, Crystal Palace and Spurs.
Manchester City vs Liverpool: potential title decider
In the 2018/19 season, Manchester City clinched the title by one point after winning every one of their last 14 games. Liverpool were able to one their last nine games, but were beaten to the title by their rivals.
Over the last few years, Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have elevated both their teams to extraordinary levels – leaving the rest of the league behind. They are now seen as the gold standard for the other teams to live up to in the division.
The Etihad Stadium could be the site of the title decider for the 21/22 season, with only one point separating the two sides in the table. A win for either team would tilt the race in their favour. But, a draw would give the advantage to defending champions Manchester City, who will still have a minor advantage.
Both teams will be able to field their strongest line-ups against each other in the big game. One of the key absentees from Manchester City’s squad will be Ruben Dias, but they have Aymeric Laporte and John Stones ready to start.
