Summer is almost upon us, and with that, the rumours linking Jack Grealish with a move to a Manchester club come right back into our lives. Only this time, it’s with Manchester City, and they are being rumoured as the frontrunners for the Aston Villa captain’s signature.

Pep Guardiola is known to be an admirer of the 25-year-old and called him an exceptional player when asked about his opinion. Grealish on the other hand has been open about his praise for Kevin De Bruyne, calling him the best player in the Premier League.

Aston Villa have slapped a price tag worth £100 million on the attacking midfielder, who only signed an extension with the club a year ago. However, given City’s financial strength, they can probably go ahead and buy the player if they deem him necessary. But the ongoing pandemic will surely present the financial situation as a real challenge.

The Midlands club are also expected to adopt a neutral stance on the issue should their valuation be met, and Grealish himself asks to leave, wanting to compete at a higher level than Villa can offer him right now.

Manchester United were the ones linked with his signature throughout this time last year, but the Red Devils ultimately ended up signing Donny Van De Beek from Ajax who has since been left out on the bench for the majority of the season. In a way, rejecting the move to United averted a crisis for his share of regular playing time.
