Manchester City are reportedly keeping tabs on Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria to bolster their options in midfield. The Cityzens are currently out of the top half of the table, and find themselves in unknown territory since the beginning of the 20/21 season.
On episode 14 of the “Here We Go” podcast with guest Christian Falk of German publication BILD, Fabrizio Romano and Falk mentioned that Manchester City, as well as Bayern Munich were interested in Zakaria.
The Gladbach midfielder has been vital to Marco Rose’s revitalised side that managed to finish in a Champions League berth last season.
The 24-year-old’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2022. The duo mentioned that a release clause inclusion could be on the cards for the Swiss midfielder.
If that doesn’t happen, and Zakaria does want to leave Gladbach for a bigger club, then €40 million is the sum of money that the German club are holding out for.
Considering that the player would possibly be available for a decent sum of money, more clubs could eventually jump on the bandwagon. However, for now, City and Bayern Munich are the names that have been linked with the midfielder.
The Sky Blues are reportedly also keeping tabs on AC Milan holding midfielder Ismael Bennacer as well.
