Manchester City defender Eric Garcia is set to sign a 5-year deal with FC Barcelona next summer. FC Barcelona is scouting the Spanish defender for a long time. They wanted him last summer. But the deal has not gone through that time.

Eric Garcia is a product of La Masia. He joined the Manchester City youth academy in 2017. He was promoted to the first team in 2018 and made his senior team debut in the EFL Cup quarter-final in 2018 against Leicester City.

But he has not got enough chances under Pep Guardiola in recent times. In this circumstance, new Barcelona chief Joan Laporta wants to seal the deal as soon as possible.

However, the player has already revealed his desire to play alongside Lionel Messi and other FC Barcelona players. In an interview, he said, “‘It would be very special to play alongside Messi because he’s the best footballer in the world.”

“We see week after week what he does and it’s incredible.”- he added.

“They’re having a very good moment, the coach [Ronald Koeman] is backing the youngsters and that’s good for them.”

Garcia also confirmed his contact with FC Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati. He said, “(Ansu and I) have known each other all our lives and when we talk we don’t talk about football, hardly at all. Now he’s recovering and he knows I’ll help him in any way I can.”

Last time FC Barcelona failed to match the asking price for the Spanish defender. But The Catalan club is confident to bring the youngster back this time.
