Manchester City have placed Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard on their transfer list ahead of the coming season. The Frenchman only has one year left on his contract with the Bavarians and is expected to leave the club this summer.
City have now emerged as strong contenders to complete his transfer, especially with Kyle Walker moving in the other direction. The Englishman has agreed personal terms with Bayern for a contract until 2025. But, the two deals are expected to be separate from one another.
Benjamin Pavard on Manchester City’s transfer list to replace Kyle Walker
With both Walker and Joao Cancelo leaving the club this summer, Manchester City will effectively be without a first-choice right-back. They have the talented younger Rico Lewis in their squad, but will require another option to rotate alongside the academy graduate.
As a result, the arrival of Pavard could be a significant boost to the club’s ambitions as they look to reshuffle the squad. A transfer fee worth €15 million has been discussed for Walker, but the deal for Benjamin Pavard will also be discussed now between the two clubs.
The Frenchman has fallen down in the pecking order after the arrival of Noussair Mazraoui and Josip Stanisic in the squad. And now, he is expected to move on to a new club to gain more playing time.
Liverpool and Chelsea were linked with the World Cup winner in the past, but neither made any concrete advances to sign him. As things stand, City are in the best position to complete the deal for him.
