The highly regarded midfielder Gavi has not yet renewed his contract with Barcelona, therefore major teams all across Europe are closely monitoring his situation. The 18-year-old La Masia youth player is a full international for Spain and already starts most games for Xavi.

Clubs Aiming to Sign a Player

The player’s contract expires in 2023, and the English and German press have reported that Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Manchester United are all interested in signing him. He may leave Barcelona for free in June.

According to the German daily Bild, Bayern Munich is particularly interested in signing the talented midfielder for their long-term ambition and is closely monitoring if he extends his contract at Barcelona. Manchester United and Liverpool are the two Premier League teams most interested in signing Gavi, according to The Sun and the Daily Mail.

Renewal of Gavi’s Contract

Gavi is thought to have a contract with his present club even though his current term is set to expire in less than a year. According to Mateu Alemany, Barcelona’s director of football, they already have a closed deal that commits them to Gavi staying at Barcelona.

There are a few issues that need to be rectified, but they won’t be until the player becomes 18 because until then, Gavi isn’t allowed to sign contracts longer than four years.

Gavi turned 18 on August 5, but Barcelona has not yet formally announced that he has renewed his contract. Though he can still play first-team games, he is still registered with the B squad despite expectations that he will join the official first team for 2022–2023.
