If you love K-dramas with dark secrets, crumbling marriages, and jaw-dropping plot twists, **Mad Concrete Dreams** is your next obsession. This new Korean thriller on Viki is already sending chills down viewers’ spines — and it’s the two married couples at the centre of the chaos that are stealing the show.

[Korean thrillers](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_thriller_films) have a long legacy of weaving domestic tension with crime, and Mad Concrete Dreams is a masterclass example.

## Mad Concrete Dreams Meet the Two Couples Driving the Drama

| Couple | Characters | The Core Conflict |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Couple 1 | Ki Su Jong & Kim Seon | Fake kidnapping → accidental murder → accomplices |
| Couple 2 | Min Hwal Seong & Jeon Yi Gyeong | Staged wife kidnapping for ransom → coma twist |

## Couple 1: Ki Su Jong & Kim Seon — Husband and Wife Turn Crime Partners

Ha Jung Woo plays Ki Su Jong, a debt-ridden landlord desperate to save his building. His solution? Stage a fake kidnapping. What follows is a domino effect of disasters — his wife Kim Seon (Im Soo Jung) discovers the plan and, rather than walking away, **chooses to stand by him**. But not before her own affair gets exposed in a brutal confrontation.

Things escalate shockingly when a tenant barges in and Ki Su Jong stabs him with scissors. Now the couple are bound not by love alone, but by **shared guilt**. Their chemistry has transformed from marriage into survival mode — and that’s what makes them impossible to look away from.

## Couple 2: Min Hwal Seong & Jeon Yi Gyeong — The Glamorous Couple With a Dangerous Secret

On the surface, Min Hwal Seong (Kim Jun Han) and Jeon Yi Gyeong (Krystal) look like the picture-perfect wealthy couple. Behind closed doors? He’s ignored, harassed by loan sharks, and desperate enough to **stage his own wife’s kidnapping** to extort her mother.

The plan collapses. He falls into a coma. She cries at his bedside — not knowing **he was her kidnapper**. The tension in every scene between them is suffocating, and the unravelling promises to be explosive.

## Why These Couples Are the Real Heart of Mad Concrete Dreams

Both pairs aren’t just romantic plot devices — they are the story. Secrets, betrayals, and survival instincts collide in every episode. Episode 5 airs **March 28 at 9:10 PM KST** on Viki.
