MacBook Air has New Function Keys with Different Functions

Apple launches the new MacBook Air on November 17th. This is one of the first laptops which features Apple’s own ARM-based CPUs, designed for Macs. From the outside, the laptop is nearly identical but after opening it up, you will notice some modifications in the keyboard.

Spotlight, Do Not Disturb, and Dictation, these are the new function keys which are added to MacBook Air. The laptop is powered by the new M1 processor of Apple. The M1 is similar to the processor of the iPhone 12 and iPad Air. Last time they changed the keyboard to add Touch ID for securing payment details and passwords.

Observing the new changes in the keyboard, an employee of Bloomberg, Mark Gurman shared an image of the keyboard by saying that, “The new MacBook Air has updated keyboard function keys, adding Spotlight, Dictation, and Do Not Disturb – replaces Launchpad and Keyboard brightness.”

Apple removed the brightness key along with the launchpad from the keyboard which was very helpful to open, find, and organize apps.

Does any user actually use the launchpad to launch apps? I don’t think so. That is not a big deal without the launchpad. Also, does anyone need to adjust the brightness of the keyboard? Let’s see, how the experience goes with the new three function key of MacBook Air.

We have to wait for feedback from the users. Let’s see how the user reacts to the new keyboard. You can have a MacBook by paying INR 92,900.
