However, the arrival of the Brazilian full-back has had the desired effect on Shaw since he has stepped up his game massively, and cemented himself as the best left-back in the Premier League in each 20/21.
He created 101 chances in 48 starts for England and Manchester United this season. He leads the list of chances created by defenders in the continent, and boasts the 8th highest chances created of all possible players in Europe across all major leagues.
By the solid numbers, Shaw scored a single goal, which came in the finals of the tournament against Italy, and provided 3 assists for England throughout the competition. He had a passing accuracy of 85%, and showed everybody watching exactly why he is indispensable for England and Manchester United.
But while Manchester United choked in the Europa League final and England slipped up in the Euro finals, Shaw had a remarkable individual season. And now that he has re-emerged as a quality player under Ole Gunnar Solskjær, it is likely that he will be one of the first names on the team sheet for the Red Devils in the Premier League season coming up.
