Chennaiyin FC continue their summer spending spree with the recruitment of Lukas Brambilla from the Cypriot first division. The Brazilian plays for Othellos Athien, and will now make the move to the ISL this summer.

The 29-year-old plays as an attacking midfielder, and will be expected to help add more creativity to the final third in the coming season. He also plays as a winger, and will be expected to be a versatile option under Owen Coyle once he joins the team’s sessions.

The player is likely to sign a one-year contract with the option for a further year. An official confirmation has not been made by Chennaiyin FC yet, and will probably be made closer to the start of the new season.

Brambilla has played 21 games in the league this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists. In the relegation round, he scored five goals and provided four assists in 13 games.

The 29-year-old has played all across Europe, featuring in countries like Greece, Bulgaria, Finland and Cyprus. With his move to the ISL, it remains to be seen whether he can adjust to the conditions and the style of play under Coyle. But on paper, it seems like a great signing for the Machans once again.
