Luka Modric is set to renew his contract with Real Madrid for one more season, after winning the Champions League 2024 title with Los Blancos. His previous deal was set to run out at the end of June, and he had received several big-money offers from Saudi Arabia and the MLS.
The Croatian has joined an exclusive club of players to have won the coveted trophy six times, alongside teammates Toni Kroos, Nacho and Dani Carvajal. And now, he will have one more shot at it, in an attempt to make it seven alongside Carvajal.

The 2018 Ballon d’or winner will turn 39 in September, but is still going strong whenever called upon. Although his playing time has reduced significantly this season, his ability to dictate play and create chances from midfield remains a game changing addition to the side.
Luka Modric has played close to 2,250 minutes this season for Madrid across all competitions, making 46 appearances. He has scored two goals and provided eight assists, which is not a bad return at all, especially with the LaLiga and Champions League trophies alongside them.
The veteran has turned down all approaches, and only wanted to stay at Madrid, as he plans to end his career there. After the Euros, we will perhaps get to see one more season of the Croatian magician before he joins his partner, Toni Kroos, in retirement. But, with his remarkable fitness and skill, you can never quite rule out a career into his 40s.
