Love him or hate him, Luis Suarez is one of the best number 9s of his generation, and his goalscoring record at some of the biggest clubs in various countries speaks for itself. The Uruguayan recently hit 500 career goals, playing for Atletico Madrid in LaLiga.

The 2010 World Cup

Suarez made his breakthrough at Ajax, scoring 49 goals in 48 games for the Eredivisie club, and then made a mark for himself in his first international tournament. His tournament ended with the infamous handball, leading to the penalty missed by Asamoah Gyan, and it was then that he earned the move to Liverpool.

Suarez won the Player of the Tournament award in the Copa America 2011, that Uruguay won, beating Paraguay in the finals of the tournament. The striker shone in the knockout stages of the tournament and scored some very vital goals to earn his country the trophy.

PFA Player of the Year

It was with Liverpool that Suarez established himself as a serious contender for one of the best strikers in the world, and in the 2013/14 season, the striker managed to score 31 goals in the Premier League, setting the record for the most goals scored in a single season at the time. He was then awarded the PFA Player of the Year award for his efforts.

MSN

Every football fan remembers the delight of watching Messi, Suarez and Neymar lead the frontline for Barcelona, and Suarez’s move from Liverpool to Barcelona proved to be one of the best decisions of his career, winning the treble in the 2014/15 season with Barcelona under Luis Enrique.

European Golden Boot

While he missed out on a second consecutive Champions League trophy in 2015/16, it was a tremendous season for the player individually. Finding the net 59 times in just 53 outings, 40 of these came in the league, making him the only player since 2009 not named Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo to win the La Liga Golden Boot.

Furthermore, his 40 league goals won him the European Golden Shoe, awarded to the top goalscorer in the European leagues.
