Luis Suarez proud of his legacy at Barcelona

After completing his move to the direct rival of Barcelona in the La Liga, Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez claimed he is proud of the legacy he left at Camp Nou and he was unsurprisingly backed and defended by his former teammate Lionel Messi.

The Uruguay international completed his move to Atletico Madrid in a deal reported being worth €6 million after spending six impressive campaigns with the Catalan giants.

Being the close friend of Suarez, Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, who was not happy with the transfer of the striker, criticized the La Liga club on Friday claiming that the striker was “kicked out” of the club and “nothing surprises” him anymore.

Suarez, who joined the La Liga giants from Premier League club Liverpool back in 2014, took to the media to express how proud he was to have left Camp Nou in a positive way.

Simeone hails Luis Suarez after superb debut

Speaking to reporters, he said via Goal: “Leo knows me well and is well aware of my level of conviction. It’s a source of pride to be able to leave a positive legacy behind me.”

“I’ve now moved on and joining this competitive side is a major motivation.”

The 33-year-old Uruguayan striker was able to find the back of the net 21 times creating 12 assists in 36 matches in all competitions last campaign for the club but Barcelona new manager Ronald Koeman, who seeks to rebuild the team, made it clear that there was no room left for the prolific striker in his team.

Considering his relationship with Barcelona, many would have thought that the Uruguayan will opt to move to another European league, but instead chose to remain in Spain to join Diego Simeone’s team.

He continued: “The motivation of coming to a great from Spain, Atleti is.”

“It has great players, a competitive block that always fights to be at the top and for the league.”

“The fans and the coach [Diego Simeone] motivate a lot too.”

Suarez had formerly been heavily linked with a move with Italian giants Juventus in the past weeks as the Italian club is in the market for a new striker, but the interest was called off as the Old Lady outfit opted to search for other strikers as Suarez will need to undergo a long process of gaining Italian citizenship.

Prior to joining Barcelona in the summer of 2014, Suarez played for English club Liverpool for four good seasons as he was able to bag up to 82 goals and 47 assists in 133 matches in all competitions, with your favourite football tip punters, have the potential to increase their winnings whenever the striker bags a goal.

With the Blaugrana, he was able to lift four La Liga titles, four Copa del Reys, two Spanish Super Cups, one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup, and one FIFA Club World Cup

Suarez, at 33 years of age, will be taking on a new challenge in his career as he will be playing under Diego Simeone at the Wanda Metropolitan.
