West Ham United have finalised talks with Lyon to sign Lucas Paqueta on a permanent deal. The Brazilian will fly to England later today to complete his medical and sign the contracts – the final steps before the move is made official.
The player has already agreed personal terms for the move to go through. As a result, it seems only a matter of time before his arrival is announced by the Premier League club. He will be the replacement for Nikola Vlasic, and will operate in a creative role – which has been missing since Jesse Lingard returned to Manchester United.
Lucas Paqueta to join West Ham United imminently
The rumoured transfer fee for the playmaker is around €40 million, and after lengthy discussions with Lyon, the move is finally set to go through.
Since AC Milan and Flamengo had sell-on clauses for the midfielder, they will receive part of the fee that Lyon receive for him. Lucas Paqueta won’t be available for the game this weekend, but will be training with the team in the coming days to play next weekend.
Alongside Gianluca Scamacca, Nayef Aguerd and Maxwell Cornet, West Ham United have made some very good signings in the transfer window. This will help their top four ambitions this year, and also gives them top credentials to be contenders for the Europa Conference League.
