Lucas Moura is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season when his contract expires. The decision has been officially announced by the club on their website, and he will be moving on to a new club as a free agent.
The winger joined from PSG in 2018, and has since been in and out of the first team. His most memorable moment in Lilywhite was during the 2019 Champions League semi final against Manchester City, when he helped the team advance to the finals of the competition against Liverpool. However, he hasn’t been able to build on that moment and has been on the sidelines for the most part since then.
Lucas Moura to leave Tottenham at the end of the season
“After five-and-a-half memorable years, we say a fond farewell to Lucas Moura who is set to leave the Club this summer following the conclusion of his contract,” the official statement released by Spurs read.
“We should like to thank Lucas for his tremendous service to our Club and wish him the very best for the future.”
This season, the team has been battling for the top four spots but is currently in seventh place. And a position in the Champions League seems all but lost for them next season. With their sporting director, Fabio Paratici, being forced to resign, a change of scenery can be expected when the new manager arrives at the end of the season.
Spurs also mentioned that a detailed list of released players will be provided once the current season is over.
