Liverpool are planning a rebuild of their midfield this summer, with multiple departures lined up. While their attack and defence is dialled in, their midfield has proven to be the big problem which has prevented them from reaching their usual levels.
Injuries have played a big role in that, but Fabinho and Jordan Henderson’s lack of form has also held the team back on several occasions. Now, the injury to young Stefan Bajcetic has given Jurgen Klopp further headache about his side.
Liverpool planning midfield overhaul this summer with numerous exits in the works
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is one of the players who will be up for transfer since he is no longer in the plans for the team. The club will listen to offers for him and will almost certainly offload him, since he hasn’t contributed much to the first team.
Naby Keita will be leaving on a free transfer, since there are no plans to extend his contract beyond this season. He has shown some signs of his quality, but his constant injuries have prevented him from being a regular in the starting line-up. Liverpool are planning to go for a more reliable option in midfield as a result.
Arthur Melo, who joined on loan from Juventus, will also be leaving. He will return to Turin at the end of the season, having been injured for most of his time at Merseyside.
There is also doubt over James Milner’s contract, and whether the club will extend the veteran’s contract in spite of their lack of manpower in central areas.
