Liverpool are now expected to sign a midfielder in the final days of the transfer window. Jurgen Klopp’s side have been plagued by injuries once again. With Thiago and Naby Keita out of action, the team needs reinforcements with a lack of creativity from midfield.
Klopp had previously ruled out a move for a midfielder, but has now confirmed that a late transfer could be on the cards. “Yes, I am the one who said we don’t need a midfielder – and you were all right and I was wrong. Now we are going for a midfielder”, he said.
“We will do something but it has to be the right one”.
Jurgen Klopp confirms Liverpool’s plans to sign a new midfielder by the end of the transfer window
“One thing stays important, and it’s that it needs to be the right player. If we do something it’ll be that we are 100 per cent convinced about it, and if we are not convinced, then we don’t do it.”
The Merseyside club reportedly made a £60 million bid for Frenkie de Jong. However, the player has decided to stay at Barcelona after agreeing a pay cut.
It remains to be seen whom Liverpool will target this late in the window. It will take either a huge bid or a short-term solution for them considering their crisis situation.
