Liverpool lost a race against time on deadline day, as they managed to complete the medical for Fabio Carvalho but were unable to get the deal through before the deadline. The issue was regarding the paperworks, which the Merseyside club failed to complete in time.
The original plan was for Jürgen Klopp’s team to sign the player, and loan him back to Fulham for the remainder of the season. And given the situation now, Liverpool will try to sign the player again in the summer. They are confident of getting the deal through in the next transfer window.
Fabio Carvalho deal collapses at the last minute
Carvalho’s contract runs out in the summer, and a move to another English club would involve complications. To avoid the intervention of a tribunal in the summer, Liverpool and Fulham have agreed on a transfer fee and would go through the arrangement in the summer. Fabio Carvalho’s agents are also in agreement about this solution.
The 19-year-old is among the most highly-rated young midfielders in the Championship and would be a very valuable addition to Klopp’s team.
Liverpool have loaned out Neco Williams to Fulham until the end of the season. The paperwork and other formalities were completed right before the transfer deadline yesterday.
Centre-back Nat Phillips, who received a lot of praise for his performances in the back end of last season, has also completed a move to the Championship. He has signed for Bournemouth until the end of the 21/22 season as well.
