Liverpool have completed the signing of Luis Diaz for €40 million upfront, and €20 million in add-ons. The total value of the deal is expected to rise to €65 million if all the clauses are met.
The player has signed the paperwork related to the transfer and has been formally announced as a new player for the Merseyside club. He was their primary transfer target for the January window after Jurgen Klopp wanted him at the club. And now, the manager has got the player he wanted.
Luis Diaz makes Liverpool move
“Liverpool Football Club have completed the signing of Luis Diaz from FC Porto, subject to the successful granting of a work permit and international clearance,” Liverpool said in a statement on their website.
“He joins Liverpool after two-and-a-half seasons with FC Porto, where he made 125 appearances and scored 41 goals.”
Personal terms between the player and the club have been agreed for a five-and-a-half-year deal until June 2027. He is now waiting for the work permit to be given before he can make the move official.
Currently, the striker is with the Colombian national team in South America, and he will be returning to Europe in a few days to link up with the rest of the squad, presuming the work permit has been generated by that time. The Porto man was a target for Tottenham Hotspur as well, but Liverpool have gone all-in and secured their signing, completing a great deal.
