Liverpool have pulled out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham during the summer transfer window. Borussia Dortmund’s high asking price and other fees have pushed the operation to the region of £130 million, which has been deemed too expensive by the board.
As a result, the club will be signing two to three other midfielders to rebuild their team and keep their expenses manageable. Manchester City and Real Madrid remain two of the favourites to land the Dortmund star this summer – in spite of the big price tag.
Liverpool no longer interested in signing Jude Bellingham
The Merseyside club were one of the favourites to land the teenager this summer. Their dire midfield situation would have presented a great opportunity for Bellingham to come in and shine. However, it now seems that they will be looking elsewhere.
Chelsea’s Mason Mount is one of the options for the club, since his contract renewal talks have stalled. And if he doesn’t reach an agreement, he could leave at the end of the season. And in that case, Liverpool could swoop in for the England international.
Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes is also another option for the club, but he isn’t at the top of the list.
With the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Arthur all leaving, Liverpool will be short staffed in central midfield. And to prevent another mishap of a season like this one, they will need to bring in new midfielders to get things right.
