Darwin Nunez is set for an exit from Benfica this summer, and Liverpool are emerging as the favourites to sign the Uruguayan. Their rivals, Manchester United are in constant contact with his agent, but the Merseyside club have opened talks with Benfica already.

A bid worth €80 million for the striker has been presented by Jurgen Klopp. And according to renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the upcoming hours are crucial for the transfer.

The forward has agreed personal terms with Liverpool already. A five-year contract has been discussed between the two parties, and the proposed salary is around €6 million per season.

The player is in favour of a move to Anfield this summer, despite the interest from Manchester United. He was quite impressive in Benfica’s Champions League tie against Liverpool. Darwin Nunez scored in both legs, and earned praise from Jurgen Klopp as a result of his performances as well.

The Uruguayan would be the replacement for Sadio Mane, who is expected to be on the move this summer. The Senegalese will be leaving Liverpool after six years, and is being strongly linked with a switch to Bayern Munich. Mohamed Salah is also in a contract standoff with Liverpool, but has confirmed that he will be staying for the coming season.

Alongside Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz, the new forward line seems to be very exciting if Liverpool can complete the signing of Nunez.
