# Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confused by Barcelona’s spending

Barcelona were in the midst of a financial crisis last season which saw their legendary player Lionel Messi leave the club. However, this summer Barcelona has been on a spending spree and have signed a lot of players including Robert Lewandowski from Barcelona, [Leeds United’s Raphinha](https://technosports.co.in/2022/07/13/official-barcelona-agree-raphinha-tr/), Koude from Sevilla etc, which amounts to nearly €200m.

Although Barcelona has unlocked multiple financial levers, many are questioning their spending power. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp are the latest to join the list.

## Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confused by Barcelona’s spending

Jurgen Klopp said when asked about Barcelona’s spending to Kicker, via [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/jurgen-klopp-admits-he-does-not-understand-barcelona-summer-spending): “Not for a variety of reasons. One reason is I am not a financial professional.”

“The second: If I’m told I don’t have any money, then I don’t spend anything anymore. My credit card has also been cut up twice, luckily that was a few years ago. I’m watching this like a football fan, I don’t understand.”

“Barcelona have been outstanding for the past few decades that I have been watching football and I hope they pull it off.”

“The only club I know that ever sold the stadium and other assets in advance was Borussia Dortmund. Aki Watzke had to come at the last second and save the whole thing, and I don’t know if there is an Aki Watzke in Barcelona.”
