Liverpool are planning to sign Martin Zubimendi as their first new addition under the Arne Slot era. The Merseysiders are the only club to have not made any signings this summer.

The Spaniard has a release clause worth €60 million in his contract, but that isn’t expected to be a problem to his move. As things stand, the Reds’ interest is in the preliminary stages and they are not yet close to finalising a transfer yet.

Martin Zubimendi on Liverpool’s radar for summer transfer

Zubimendi was on Barcelona’s radar for a possible transfer for a long time. The midfielder was one of the top targets for Xavi Hernandez when he was in charge of the club. However, with the change in guard and the arrival of Hansi Flick, it seems like the club is not going to pursue him after all.

And now that they’ve gone ahead and signed Dani Olmo, it seems highly unlikely that they’ll be able to invest more money in midfield.

The Real Sociedad player was a solid deputy for Rodri in defensive midfield during Euro 2024. And now, he could be finally making his big move to Liverpool, of all clubs given the massive interest in him.

How long has Zubimendi been with Liverpool?

Since youth level
