Liverpool down Manchester United 3-0 after another defensive disaster

Liverpool’s first visit to Old Trafford under Arne Slot ended in familiar fashion as they put Manchester United to the sword with a 3-0 win. Luis Diaz scored a brace, with both goals assisted by Mohamed Salah while the Egyptian got on the scoresheet for the third.

United’s defence once again looked extremely shaky, and Liverpool could have easily scored a few more by being clinical in front of goal. However, the result has left fans fuming with few improvements despite an impressive summer transfer window.

Casemiro in particular had a day to forget, with the Brazilian responsible for both goals scored by Diaz. The midfielder was understandably hauled off at half time and replaced with young Toby Coyller. But, it did little to reduce the damage.

Salah once again took advantage of a turnover in midfield to punish Manchester United with a third shot and a third goal. What’s interesting, though, is both teams were actually quite close when it comes to xG – Liverpool had 1.73 while the hosts had 1.36.

However, beating Alisson was simply not on the cards for the home side as they stumbled to another loss after capitulating against Brighton last time out.
