Liverpool have bought out the sell-on clause included in the contract of Kaide Gordon. The Reds have formally removed the 20% sell-on clause in his contract by making a payment worth £500,000 to Derby County.

The youngster made the move to Anfield in January 2021 for a total amount worth £3 million. He has since made four senior appearances, and has become the youngest goalscorer in the club’s history. He has been described as an ‘exceptional talent’ by Jurgen Klopp, and is expected to be a big part of the future of the team.

Gordon’s season ended prematurely after he suffered an injury. But, there is a lot of excitement over his future among the Liverpool faithful. As a result, there are no plans for him to be sold any time soon.

Derby County have been relegated from the Championship to League One after points deductions proved to be too much for them to battle. Concerns about new ownership and financial issues have plagued the club, and the payment from Liverpool for Kaide Gordon’s clause will possibly help them in the third division.

Liverpool have agreed the signing of Fabio Carvalho for the summer transfer window, as their first major signing. They are also being linked with Darwin Nunez from Benfica, and could go for him if one of their current forwards deals a move away from the club.
