Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo was teased one last time with Inter Miami announced to face Al Nassr as part of the Riyadh Season Cup. However, Inter Miami have deleted the statement that confirmed the two teams would be playing as part of their preseason tour.

As a result, fans have been left scratching their heads as to whether the two icons will really face each other again. ‘Earlier today, an announcement was issued stating that Inter Miami CF is scheduled to play in the Riyadh Season Cup. This is inaccurate,’ the MLS side later wrote.

The last time the two giants of football met, Lionel Messi was with PSG. Al Nassr were defeated 5-4 by the Parisians, but they went on to draw 0-0 when they met the last time this past summer. But at the time, Messi had already left PSG upon the expiry of his contract and his future was uncertain.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, has remained at Al Nassr since his transfer last winter. This year, he has led the top scorer charts in the Saudi Pro League and has found the back of the net 13 times in 12 games while also providing seven assists.

On the other hand, Messi had a disappointing start to life in the MLS, failing to reach the playoffs. But, he guided them to their first-ever trophy by winning the Leagues Cup within weeks of his debut.
