Lionel Messi transfer news: Lionel Messi will be leaving PSG at the end of the season as a free agent, when his contract expires. The player has not agreed to a renewal with the French side, and according to Fabrizio Romano, it is over between him and the club.

His father and agent, Jorge Messi informed the board of their decision a month ago. And now, speculation surrounding his future will intensify over the coming weeks. A return to Barcelona could be on the cards for him. On the other hand, a move to Saudi Arabia could also be on the cards, given the massive financial offer made to him.

Lionel Messi transfer news: World Cup winner to leave PSG at the end of the season

The Argentine had a verbal agreement to continue with the French champions after the World Cup. But, they were unable to provide clarity on the sporting project which caused Messi to decide not to continue with them any further.

He is currently suspended by the club for two weeks, having travelled to Saudi Arabia without being authorised to do so. During this time, he will not be training or playing with the first team.

We can now expect an increasing amount of Lionel Messi transfer news heading into the summer transfer window. Barcelona are struggling with their finances and need to clear €200 million from their wage bill to register new players. As a result, their pursuit of Messi looks bleak for the time being. They will face strong competition from Saudi Arabia, who can offer him a ridiculous amount of money to sign for them.
