Lionel Messi speaks on MSN reunion and World Cup 2026 possibility

Lionel Messi recently spoke about the possibility of an MSN reunion at Inter Miami, and the chances of him playing the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in North America.

The Argentine acknowledged that Neymar has a contract with Al Hilal till the end of the season, as well as his battle with injury this past season. Neymar will also not be at the Copa America this summer, as he hasn’t played in almost a year. Messi added that a transfer for Neymar looks unlikely, since the Brazilian has plans to return to Santos, presumably right after leaving Al Hilal.

Lionel Messi speaks on MSN and World Cup 2026

🇺🇸🇧🇷 Leo Messi on Neymar and Inter Miami to recreate MSN: “We talk often! We even have a group chat with the three of us, including Luis. Ney speaks perfect Spanish…”.

“A little message to recruit him? No, I don't know. The truth is, it's difficult now”.

When asked if he would play the FIFA World Cup 2026 to defend Argentina’s title, the forward left the door open, saying it would depend on how he feels.

“It depends on how I feel, how I am physically, and being realistic with myself”.

“There’s still a lot of time left… in quotes, ‘a lot and a little,’ because it goes by quickly, but there is still some time and I don’t know how I will be at that moment”.

“Age is also a reality that is there, even though it’s just a number”.

“The matches I will play now aren’t the same as those I played when I was in Europe competing every three days, either in the Champions League or in the league, whether in France or Spain”, Messi said.

“But it depends on how I feel and what I feel being alongside my teammates, and seeing if I am still up to the level or not… let’s see!”, he finished.

The Inter Miami forward will be representing Argentina at the Copa America this summer, in a bid to defend their title. The World Cup is just two years away, but a lot could happen between now and then. But as long as Messi is still active, the question of him making it to another edition of the tournament remains a possibility.
