Lionel Messi will be officially unveiled as a new Inter Miami player on July 16. The club will have a sizeable ceremony to unveil the iconic forward, signing him on a free transfer. There were rumours that he would return to his former club, Barcelona, after a two-year spell with PSG. However, he decided to exit the spotlight of European football and has now taken up a new challenge in America.

The 36-year-old is expected to make his debut for Inter Miami soon, but prior to that, he has commented on his future with the Argentina national team and retirement from football as a whole.

“Honestly, I don’t know until when. I think it will happen when it has to happen. After having achieved everything recently, the only thing left to do is to enjoy. God will say when that moment will come. Logically, because of my age, I’m sure it will be soon,” Lionel Messi said.

“But I don’t know exactly when will be the right time. I think about the day-to-day, enjoying everything beautiful. We had to go through very hard times in the national team. We were fortunate enough to be World Cup and Copa America champions. It’s time to enjoy,” he reportedly told Exequiel Palacios.

New Inter Miami head coach Tata Martino has said that he does intend to go easy on Messi, who recently exited European football. Together, the pair is expected to turn things around dramatically for Miami, who are last in the Eastern Conference League.
