Lionel Messi‘s future remains uncertain, with the player’s contract set to expire at the end of next month. He has decided to not renew with PSG, and will be leaving the club soon.
The PSG fans have been vocal about their dislike for the Argentine, especially after the 2022 World Cup where he led the national team to a win over France in the final en route to his first-ever World Cup trophy.
His former side, Barcelona, have not made an official proposal yet but have held talks with him and his entourage. Xavi has spoken to Messi about his potential role when he returns, and Joan Laporta has also been vocal about their desire to re-sign the club legend this summer.
Lionel Messi transfer update: No decision yet on future
The 35-year-old also has a massive offer from Saudi Arabia worth around €400 million per season to consider. The official proposal from Al Hilal has arrived for the player, but he has not communicated his desire to move there just yet.
The priority seemingly remains Barcelona, but the Spanish side will need to be compliant with La Liga’s FFP rules to sign him. They have submitted an economic viability plan to the authorities, but it hasn’t been approved as of yet.
It will be a crunch few days ahead for Lionel Messi and his future. He wants to come to a decision soon, within the month of June.
