Are You A Linux User? Then Kali Linux NetHunter Is Best For You… 

You probably have heard of Kali Linux, the most advanced penetration testing distribution ever. Now carry the most powerful penetration tool in your pocket. Kali community member BinkyBear and Offensive security jointly created their first Open Source penetration testing platform, “The Kali Linux Nethunter project”.

Nethunter comes with the following supported features: 

  • 802.11 Wireless Injection and AP mode support.
  • One-click MANA Evil Access Point setups
  • USB HID Keyboard attacks.
  • Supports BadUSB MITM attacks.
  • Full Kali Linux toolset.
  • USB Y-cable support.
  • Software Defined Radio support.

Most android devices do not support monitor mode and an external wireless card is required for them to work in monitor mode. However, some devices with custom kernels and modified firmware can support monitor mode. Check out the list of devices that support monitor mode and doesn’t require an external wireless card here:

Kali Linux NetHunter

 

If your device is not on the list you just need a wireless card and you are good to go. Here is a list of all the wireless card devices that are tested with Nethunter.

Devices confirmed to be working with a NetHunter build:

  • TP-Link TL-WN722N
  • TP-Link TL-WN822N v1 – v3
  • Alfa Networks AWUS036NEH (recommended by @jcadduono)
  • Alfa Networks AWUS036NH
  • Panda PAU05 Nano
  • Devices confirmed to be partially working with a NetHunter build:
  • Alfa Networks AWUS051NH (dual band 5 GHz support may be unreliable)

Devices confirmed to NOT be working with a NetHunter build:

  • TP-Link TL-WN822N v4

Nexus 4 & 5 Android Phone – 

Kali Linux NetHunter for the Nexus 5 provides you with the ultimate in penetration testing portability. With a quad-core 2.26GHz CPU and 2GB of RAM, you have an immense amount of power at your fingertips to run a wide range of attacks on a platform that easily fits in your pocket.

Nexus 7 Mini Tablet –

Nexus 10 Tablet –

 With its 2560×1600 resolution, dual-core CPU, and 2GB of RAM, Kali Linux NetHunter on the Nexus 10 gives you a full desktop experience with all the power and versatility that Kali Linux has to offer, in a full-size tablet form-factor.

Nexus 6 –

The Nexus 6 is a true “Phablet”, featuring a 2.7 GHz quad-core CPU and 3GB of ram coupled with a 6″ display. The most powerful NetHunter device you can get that will still fit in your pocket.

Nexus 9 –

With its optional keyboard cover accessory, the Nexus 9 becomes close to the perfect platform available for Kali NetHunter. The size of a typical EBook reader, you have a device that features WiFi and LTE versions with a physical keyboard, allowing for an easier to read the screen.

OnePlus –

The OnePlus is available at half the price of a Nexus 6, yet with comparable specs and a size similar to a Nexus 5. This device has in large part supplanted the Nexus 5 as the preferred phone form factor NetHunter device.
