### Why Lim Ji Yeon’s Character Is Already a Fan Favourite

The newly released stills show Shin Seo Ri doing what a Joseon villainess does best — absolutely refusing to back down. She wields a laundry bat at an assailant without a moment’s hesitation, embodying the personality of an “uncompromising” Joseon villain.

Director Han Tae Seop has urged viewers to pay close attention to the moments — both big and small — where an 18th-century Confucian woman delivers sharp remarks to modern people, and to the vocabulary she uses, promising both exhilaration and emotional resonance.

The concept of a modern woman possessed by a historical spirit taps into a storytelling tradition deeply rooted in Korean culture. For context on how [Joseon-era society and Confucian values](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseon) shaped characters like Shin Seo Ri, Wikipedia has a solid explainer worth a quick read.
