LG’s latest Gram ultraportables include 12th-generation Intel processors as well as screen privacy technology

LG, like many other PC manufacturers, is steadily updating its laptop inventory to include the latest Intel and AMD processors. Apple revamped its ultraportable Gram series with Intel’s 12th-generation Core CPUs on Monday, the same day it revealed its new M2 MacBook Air.

About the LG’s Latest Gram

All six versions in the series, including the Gram 15 and both 14- and 16-inch Gram 2-in-1s, are now equipped with Intel’s latest Alder Lake processors. In addition, the laptops may now be configured with up to 32GB of 5,200MHz DDR5 RAM. Support for PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD drives is also new to the lineup, with the complete family offering two storage slots.

The addition of LG Glance, a display utility developed with the support of Mirametrix, is the most notable upgrade to the Gram series, aside from an internal spec bump. Several additional features are possible thanks to the technology.

To begin, as you walk away from your laptop, the screen will automatically lock and blur when the computer detects someone staring at your screen over your shoulder. Furthermore, if you connect an extra monitor to one of LG’s new laptops, they will instantly change your mouse to the screen you’re now viewing, which sounds startling.

Other Features and Pricing

The Grams have 16:10 displays, as before, to provide you a little additional screen real estate for productive tasks. LG is keeping with IPS screens across the board, with normal models reaching 350 nits of brightness and 2-in-1s reaching 300 nits, but with a new anti-glare coating to reduce annoying reflections.

LG is also introducing a 16-inch portable monitor to its Gram range. The 16MQ70 has a 2,560 by 1,600 resolution IPS panel with 99 percent DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and a contrast ratio of 1,200 to 1.

It’s available for $350 on the company’s website starting today. The new Gram laptop series is now available, with the 15-inch model starting at $1,199 and the flagship 17-inch model costing $1,599 and higher.
