Outside China, T-Mobile’s LG Velvet is the first smartphone that is powered by a Dimensity chipset. The chipset is used by the phone is the Dimensity 1000C and most importantly it is a brand new chip of the flagship 1000-series. Now, let’s talk about the performance of that chip.
Recently, T-Mobile’s LG Velvet 5G appeared on Geekbench. It features the capability of the CPU, which has four Cortex-A77 cores, which are exclusive to the Dimensity 1000 chips while the 800 and 700 models use A76. The ARM claims that the A77 is 20% faster than that of the A76 at equal clock speed. The frequency is 2.0Ghz in terms of the Dimensity 1000C, which matches the clock speed of the A76 in the Dimensity 800. The vanilla 1000 runs its A77 cores at 2.6 GHz, the lower binned 1000L at 2.2 GHz.
We see only an 11% increase in single-core performance if we compare it to the Honor X10 Max result. The increasing percentage is 8% in the case of multi-core performance. Dimensity 1000C has also some extra advantages.
The Mali-G57 GPU has an extra core compared to the 800 chip. Theoretically, the core gives it 25% more performance (more or less, depending on clock speed). However, the other Dimensity 1000 chips use the more powerful G77 graphics core.
Apart from this, T-Mobile’s LG Velvet will come with the 6GB RAM variant. Regarding the availability, this phone will be available tomorrow on LG.com. The pricing of the phone is around $588. A monthly installment process is also available which is $24.50 per month.
