Robert Lewandowski is reportedly interested in a new challenge away from Bayern Munich, and is willing to look into a transfer this summer.
The player has been at Bayern for the last seven seasons, and has emerged as one of the best strikers in the world. He has helped the club lift every trophy available during his time in Bavaria, and has lifted the top scorer award in the Bundesliga on many occasions. In total, Lewandowski has scored 297 goals in just 331 games for the German giants.
But now, he is looking for something new with two years remaining on his deal with the club. The price tag placed on Lewandowski is £100 million, which will be difficult to match for any club in the continent based on the variables like his age and the absence of a resale value.
Although Lewandowski isn’t fully behind the club’s decision of not wanting to sell him, he is unwilling to force a transfer to not jeopardize the relationship with Bayern. Since joining from Dortmund on a free transfer, Lewandowski has become synonymous with the Bayern frontline and recently became the league’s highest goalscorer in a single season, overtaking the legendary Gerd Muller.
Chelsea and Barcelona could have been possible destinations for the player, but both teams have recruited prolific strikers this summer. So, a reunion with Jürgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola at Liverpool or Manchester City looks most likely given the circumstances, if at all it comes to be.
