Despite missing out on the Ballon d’Or by a whisker, arguably unfairly, in 2021, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is planning one final huge move before retiring. According to a recent rumor from Spanish publication AS, the prolific forward has requested his agency to try to secure a trade to Real Madrid.
Lewandowski, 33, is without a doubt one of the best strikers in the history of the sport. Despite being in his late thirties, the Poland international, who has 73 goals in 73 games since the start of last season, shows no signs of slowing down.
Agent Pini Zahavi, who is reportedly keen to go to Spain at the end of the current season, now faces a struggle convincing Real Madrid to sign Lewandowski, especially because they are also interested in PSG’s Kylian Mbappe and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
Even though he has two years left on his contract, it has been reported that the 33-year-old is nearly set to leave the Allianz Arena in less than six months.
When it comes to prospective moves, especially players that operate in an attacking capacity, next summer will be quite exciting. The likes of Haaland, Mbappe, and now Lewandowski might all wind up joining their current European rivals, and while Real Madrid has been connected with all three, signing them all would be almost impossible.
When it comes to prioritizing which star player to pursue, while the La Liga giants are likely to sign Mbappe on a free transfer, given the fact that Haaland is 12 years younger than Lewandowski, it will be tough for Zahavi to portray his client as the better alternative.
