Lenovo is on a spree to bring new laptops to market including their recent Yoga laptops, and their ThinkPad series as well. To add to their existing ThinkPad lineup, Lenovo is bringing the ThinkPad T15g Gen 1 with some serious specs in it, an official specs sheet has just confirmed the existence of the laptop. Though it’s meant for professional use, the powerful Intel + NVIDIA combo makes it a great gaming contender as well.
The laptop comes in the ThinkPad P15 chassis, however, offers a lot of Intel CPU options: Intel Core i5-10400H, Core i7-10750H, Core i7-10850H, Core i9-10885H, and the Core i9-10980HK. Not only do you get the Comet Lake-H processor options, but you can also opt for a Xeon CPU as well, in the form of Intel Xeon W-10855M and the Xeon W-10885M.
On the graphics front too, the ThinkPad T15g Gen 1 gives a high-end choice of either the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q or a GeForce RTX 2080 Super Max-Q, both of them offering 8GB of GDDR6 memory. This comes paired with up to 128 GB of either ECC or non-ECC DDR4 RAM (up to 4 DIMMs) and up two M.2 2280 NVMe SSD slots supporting up to 2TB PCIe NVMe SSDs in each of the slots in RAID 0/1 configurations.
The ThinkPad T15g Gen 1 offers up to a 15.6-inch 16:9 display at either FHD or UHD (3840×2160) resolution along with HDR 400 support and various color accuracy & brightness. As Notebookcheck points out, the laptop will come with either a 170 W or 230 W slim AC adapter. Obviously, this is not a dedicated gaming laptop but for professionals who need some serious horsepower and can game on it as well, the presence of Xeon CPUs makes these laptops good mobile workstations as well.
It will be interesting to see when Lenovo launches the ThinkPad T15g Gen 1 and how it prices it to target which set of people as this new ThinkPad lineup can help a lot of professionals out there who need a powerful laptop in a justifiable price point.
