Lenovo ThinkPad P17 Gen 2 is here with a massive 17.3-inch colour-calibrated display

We already have the launch of the refreshed ThinkPad P15 Gen 2 from Lenovo, but the PC maker is now also offering an upgraded ThinkPad P17 Gen 2. Lenovo said that the ThinkPad P17 Gen 2 offers the “largest workspace available in a Lenovo mobile workstation” thanks to its 17.3-inch colour-calibrated display.

It’s not just the larger screen size that is the plus point of the device, and the ThinkPad P17 Gen 2 also sports similar specifications as the ThinkPad P15 Gen 2. But unlike the P15 Gen 2, the ThinkPad P17 Gen 2 offers fewer display options.

Also, we also won’t be getting an OLED touch variant, but Lenovo has provided a UHD IPS 500-nit anti-glare display that supports HDR400 and Dolby Vision. The other display option is an FHD IPS 300-nit anti-glare panel.

Hidden inside the device is the power of the Intel 11th Gen Core and Xeon processors, which offer up to eight cores. Lenovo provides the options to buyers to configure the laptop with up to an NVIDIA RTX A5000 GPU, up to 128 GB ECC/non-ECC RAM, and up to 6 GB PCIe storage spread over three NVMe drives that can be configured in RAID 0 or RAID 1.

The ThinkPad P17 Gen 2 comes with software certifications from Autodesk, SolidWorks, CATIA, and the likes. Other specifications include an Ultra Performance Mode that allows for more power to the CPU and GPU, a self-healing BIOS, and of course, Lenovo Commercial Vantage.

The Lenovo ThinkPad P17 Gen 2 will be available from July at prices starting from US$1,779.
