Lenovo is entering the handheld console market in 2023 with its Legion Go

Lenovo Legion Go: With the increased competitiveness in the portable business, it appears that a new competitor is entering the fray. According to Windows Central, Lenovo is working on a new “Legion Go” mobile device.

While no specifics about the new gadget have been released, it has been speculated that the console will be built on Windows 11. Lenovo is entering a highly competitive market here, competing with ASUS’ ROG Ally and Valve’s Steam Deck. Because of Microsoft’s substantial handheld support, several manufacturers have chosen Windows 11 as a standard operating system. The corporation has promised to improve the operating system so that portable users have a better experience.

The “Legion Go” portable is rumoured to have an 8-inch screen, making it slightly larger than competitors. While a larger display provides benefits like as increased FOV (Field of View) and extended UI, it also consumes more battery, which is not something that consumers want.

While Lenovo may go all out with a huge battery capacity, like we witnessed with the AYANEO KUN, we will have to wait and see.

Details on onboard specifications haven’t leaked online, but as Windows Standard points out, AMD’s Phoenix APUs have become the industry standard, with every other manufacturer adopting the Zen4 architecture. One may argue that this will make every handheld operate similarly, but the unique factor will be how the handheld utilises the raw power from the APU. The latest firmware upgrade to ASUS’s ROG Ally, which resulted in a massive 20% performance boost, is a perfect example of this statement.

Lenovo had announced intentions in 2021 for an Android handheld called the “Lenovo Legion Play.” However, the smartphone did not see the light of day, although photos of the device revealed that it will include “a 7′′ 16:9 FHD bezel-less display, HDR 10, built-in controllers, dual speakers, dual vibration, and 7000mAh battery.”
