Lenovo Combines Intel Meteor Lake & Qualcomm Snapdragon CPUs in Hybrid ThinkBook Laptop/Tablet

With a fresh innovation of the AI PC and even “2-in-1” computing design, Lenovo has taken it to greater heights with its new line in ThinkBook Plus Hybrid using Intel Meteor Lake along with Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Blending Windows into Android functionalities.

The Upcoming Lenovo Hybrid ThinkBook

The latest model revises the ThinkBook series and has quickly become known as innovative and aims to outdo its predecessors by strategically leveraging the AI PC trend with more of a “hybrid” experience. This way, the features belonging to both Windows and Android can be made available for users effortlessly. The fact is that Lenovo has made this functionality uniquely possible with a unique design, setting the ThinkBook Plus Hybrid apart from its market competitors.

The hybrid device Lenovo separates the “screen” and the “baseboard” into separate components. The display serves as an Android tablet, and the keyboard base effectively houses all of your Windows bits providing enhanced storage and memory options. This thus makes it possible for users to run both Android and Windows. The docking mechanism Skyslide turns the tablet into a meaningful Laptop, increasing its usability.

Another advantage of the ThinkBook Plus Hybrid for the user is not only support for native Android but also the elimination of the need for the latter to be emulated when changing systems. The specifications are also sensitive in the keyboard base, the CPU is Intel’s Core Ultra 7 155H, and in the tablet – Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The keyboard base provides 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 1TB SSD. The tablet is distinguished by 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage in terms of memory and storage. The tablet, in turn, has a 14-inch 2.8K OLED display with a color gamut of 100% DCI-P3.

The battery setup includes a 38 Whr battery in the tablet and a 75 Whr battery in the keyboard, totaling 113 Whr, which is substantial for extended use. Connectivity options include two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a 3.5mm audio jack.

However, the device does have some drawbacks. It offers only 10 GB of shared storage, which may limit multitasking capabilities. Additionally, the ThinkBook Plus Hybrid’s price, set at 15,999 yuan (about $2,240), may affect its market appeal. Currently available only in China, it is expected to reach global markets following its CES 2024 debut.
