Lenovo has introduced the new YOGA Air 14s laptops, which are powered by AMD’s Ryzen 7 7840S and Ryzen 5 7640S “Phoenix” APUs. The Lenovo Yoga Air 14S, also known as the Yoga Slim 7 Gen 8 in the EU, will feature the AMD Ryzen 5 7640S and Ryzen 7 7840S “Phoenix” APUs, which have made their debut and appear to be exclusive to Lenovo.
While AMD has not released the official specifications for these Ryzen 7040S APUs, they appear to have the same features as their “U” brothers. To summarise, these AMD Ryzen 7040 APUs are available in FP7 and FP8 variants, with the latter featuring AMD’s MIPI CSI, which aids in media transmission.
According to ITHome, Lenovo has noted that performance in Microsoft’s Studio Effect and AI-driven media applications using the Ryzen AI engine may vary.
In terms of the new models’ specifications, the Yoga Air 14S has a 14.5-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz. Lenovo’s “Yoga” range is especially aimed at professionals, akin to ASUS’s “ProArt” models, and so lacks gaming-oriented features.
Memory will be available in two capacities: 16 GB and 32 GB LPDDR5X-6400. The pricing of the models varies by country, with the Ryzen 7 7840S laptop costing €1432/$ 1564 in the EU, while the 6-core Ryzen 5 7640S starts at €100 less. The Chinese models, on the other hand, only have the Ryzen 7 7840S and start at 7999 RMB / USD $1100, making the EU variants more expensive given Lenovo’s considerably greater rapport with Chinese consumers.
