# Lenovo Chromebook powered by AMD Ryzen spotted

Until now, AMD was shy to use their new Ryzen CPUs on the Chromebooks, most of them were powered by lower tier AMD A-Series APUs or the Athlon APUs. There are costly Chromebooks in the market as well powered by the Intel CPUs, so it seems finally we will get to see a mid-range Chromebook powered by AMD Ryzen CPUs.

The efficiency and performance of the latest Ryzen mobile APUs are making OEMs more prone to use them in their laptops. From ultra-thin notebooks to gaming centric ones, Ryzen APUs are being used everywhere, now finally they will be seen on Lenovo Chromebooks as well.

The choice of using the 2nd gen mobile Ryzen APU seems strange but ultimately it can reduce prices as this is a Chromebook and doesn’t require the tremendous performance that the latest Ryzen 4000 mobile APUs offer.

The Ryzen 5 PRO 3500U features 4 cores and has a base clock speed of 2.1 GHz, the Chromebook has 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of eMMC storage. It also has a 11.6-inch display and the integrated Vega 8 graphics with 8 CUs is enough to handle graphical workloads.

According to the listing on AMD’s site, the Chromebook seems to have a starting price of US$303.99 but this might be the pricing of the original Chromebook C330 with a MediaTek 8173C processor. Even though AMD has made a mistake in listing but it is pretty clear that a Ryzen powered Chromebook will soon.
