Lenovo announces the first-ever workstation with PCIe 4.0 support & up to 64 cores

With the world’s biggest IT event on the horizon, companies around the globe have started announcing their new and upgraded products. Lenovo recently announced the launch of the ThinkStation P620, a new workstation computer that is powered by the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO processor.

The new workstation will come with up to 64 cores and up to 4.0 GHz of processing power which will offer a dual-CPU experience in a single processor system. Lenovo claims that its new machine is the first and only PCIe Gen 4 workstation available in the market today, and it includes support for up to two NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 or four RTX 4000 graphics cards, up to 20TB storage, and expandable memory up to 1TB.

Reports indicate that for the new system, both Lenovo and AMD have collaborated to create a customized heat sink. The new heat sink uses a unique air-cooled solution to handle the increased thermal requirements, surfacing due to the advanced design of the processor.

The workstation also supports seamless 8K streaming in real-time. The display features don’t just end there it also includes reduced render times, ultra-fast simulation solving, quick assembly rebuilds, and smooth interactivity with 3D assets, without having to scale to a dual-socket system.

The Lenovo ThinkStation P620 will be available at the starting price of ₹3,99,000. Lenovo also offers a three-year standard after-sales warranty and an upgradable warranty of up to five years, as well as Lenovo Premier Support.
