Leicester City are considering re-signing Harry Maguire on loan from Manchester United next season. The centre-back has been out of the first team picture in spite of being the club captain.
Given the fact that he is one of the top options for Gareth Southgate’s England squad, he is in need of regular game time. With the Euros coming up in 2024, he will need to keep himself fit with regular playing time to be considered for selection.
And since he hasn’t been able to earn a spot under Erik Ten Hag, a return to Leicester could be on the cards next summer.
Harry Maguire expected to join Leicester City on loan
In 2019, Maguire left Leicester City to sign for Manchester United for £80 million – which was a record fee at the time. But, he hasn’t been able to recapture his Leicester City form at Old Trafford.
Given that Harry Maguire’s contract with Manchester United expires in 2025, a loan deal could be the best option for everybody involved. However, he was viewed as the answer to Leicester’s leaky defence by Brendan Rodgers.
But, the Foxes have parted ways with Rodgers following their most recent loss. And now, it remains to be seen whether the board will still bring Maguire back to the club in the summer.
