Leeds United have been ordered to pay £24.5 million to their former player Jean-Kevin Augustin over a breach of contract.
The decision has been made by FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber, and has been appealed by the Yorkshire club. The forward made only three appearances for Leeds after signing for them during the January transfer window of 2019/20. There was a mandatory buy option included in his contract if Leeds gained promotion to the Premier League which they did.

However, the argument that Leeds presented to the Court of Arbitration for Sport was that they earned promotion on July 17 and the loan deal expired on June 30th, as the season was delayed due to the pandemic.
The two clubs eventually reached an agreement over £15.5m for the situation. However, Jean-Kevin Augustin took the case to FIFA as well, demanding payment for a five-year contract which was agreed beforehand.
The forward currently plays for Swiss club Basel, and as things stand, will receive a heavy compensation from his former side.
Leeds United are struggling in the Premier League, with a relegation battle currently waging on. The fine will be an extra blow to their finances, which could be hampered if they are relegated back to the Championship.
